Practice Plan for Inclement weather
Here is our general policy when it comes to having practice as bad weather approaches.
- It is important to remember that we have families traveling 20-45+ minutes to attend our swim program. So in respect to those who travel, sometimes we have to make a call on practice before families load up and head this way. With that said we WANT to have practice – our notice to cancel is typically at least 30 minutes prior to the start of practice.
- We will also communicate out if we have a delayed start to practice based on storms that are passing.
- We also tend to look at how much lightning is present as storms approach. If a storm cell is producing a lot of lighting we typically cancel practices before storms arrive to avoid the disruption.
- Our weather system detects a “force” rating. This Force rating is measuring the amount of electricity in the air. If the force rating goes above 3.0 then we need to clear the pool. When the force drops back below 1.0 then we can get back in the water. The link to our weather system is below. - Each weather incident is different but we will always error on the side of caution when swimming outside. Unfortunately, this means that we may cancel practice for a storm that breaks up right as it approaches.
- We will text and email out when practice is cancelled.
